Karen & Rod’s Red Rocks Engagement Portrait | Colorado Wedding Photography

Sunday, December 9th, 2012

Red Rocks is one of my favorite locations to photograph people at…can you tell!? ;)   I photographed Karen & Rod up there this summer and we had a fabulous time!  They had just moved to Colorado from Chicago and it was the first time we had actually met and talked.  They hired me to photograph their wedding via email – so it was fantastic to put their faces and personalities with their names.

I had an immediate connection with these two…they are wonderful people and so totally in love!  They, like everyone else who moves here from the midwest – are extremely active in the outdoors…I was completely embarrassed that me…(living here almost my entire life) could hardly hike around Red Rocks without having major breathing issues.

Karen & Rod are so carefree – and so fun…check out more of their beautiful portraits on facebook.

I can’t wait to show you their wedding photos…to die for!  xoxo

Red Rocks Engagement Proposal | Colorado Wedding Photography

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

My friend Mike contacted me last Friday and told me he was proposing to his girlfriend Jacque the next morning at Red Rocks. I immediately asked if I could come and photograph it…of course he said yes! He got her up there for a workout…she had no idea he was going to pop the big question! I tried to look like a tourist taking pictures of the views…but secretly I was spying on them!! ;) Mike really hoped to ask her on the stage – however the stage was closed that day for Easter services Sunday…so he did it in the stands. I stood near by (about 4 rows up) and then he did it! I could tell he was nervous – he kept stretching and wiping his hands on his pants. When Mike showed Jacque the ring she screamed YES! and jumped so high. All the other people at Red Rocks heard and started cheering and clapping – it was fantastic!

If you are or you know someone who is proposing soon – CALL ME!!!…this was the most fantastic photo shoot I’ve done in 10 years.  Why don’t more people think to do this?  Could you imagine if I wasn’t there…neither Mike nor Jacque would remember how high she jumped!

This really did work out perfectly!…besides the fact that the stage was closed off – I think everything else went as planned.  It did help that I’ve only met Jacque a few times so I don’t think she would have recognized me even if I wasn’t playing the tourist “landscape photo” act.  She had no idea I was even there taking pictures until he pointed me out…and by her face I don’t even think she was listening to him – I think all she could think about was that RING!!!

Congratulations Mike & Jacque – it was a perfect moment on a perfect day!  Best, Kim. xoxo
