DIY “Green” Gift Tags | Colorado Wedding Photographer

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

On an unrelated photography note…I wanted to share something I’ve been doing for the last few years around this time of the year to stay “green”.  I always felt bad tossing out the holiday cards we’d received in the mail and I don’t know if I came up with this or if I read it somewhere – but I now turn them into gift tags to use the following year.

I’ve mainly done this on regular holiday cards…not necessarily photo cards – but after looking at some this year, I’ve decided that some of those will work also.  Basically I cut out the pictures or drawings on the cards, punch out a hole, add a string and write to and from on the back.

They look so much prettier than the peel and stick gift tags…and they’re FREE!…(and you’re being environmentally friendly).  I’ve only done it for our annual holiday cards we get…but now that I’m thinking about it – it could be done all year long.  Valentine’s, birthdays, etc.  You could cut out the drawings and use them on your recycled gift bags (since most of the time the gift tag attached was used the first time the bag was used)!

How do you do to stay green over the holiday season?
